Because I’ve been busy, I haven’t been as regular with my chess playing but I still have kept at it. After I checkmated Laura 6 times, I decided to take on Sven, also a level 1100 machine. I lost to Sven repeatedly for a couple of weeks and then this week I’ve checkmated him five times. Mostly because I’ve been extra angsty lately and playing chess soothes the howling in my heart. Deciding variety is the spice of life, I’ve moved on to Maria, who is level 1200. I do have my own favourite strategy, my way in which I eventually defeat all of these bots without assists but it needs refining.
Sadly, because I finally started taking part in the 3 minute challenges and lost two matches immediately, my machine-generated Blitz rating has reduced from 1000 to 785-ish. Oh well. That’s around the score Dr. Wolf gives me too. I’m in no hurry. I’ll learn a lot playing with the intermediate bots this year. And yes, I do intend to checkmate Laura, Sven, and Maria 20 times each, but there’s no harm in alternating between them. Who’s checking anyway (hahahaha sorry I couldn’t help myself)? That’s the joy of self-directed learning.
*although I did flirt with the idea of getting an online chess coach a year or so from now, I think two music teachers is about as much as I can handle with my busy schedule right now.
